Lost lantern

I see a lot of trash on my walks. I even take pictures of trash from time to time. But this week I spotted a dirty little oil lantern. And, well, I had to snag it.

If stopping to take pictures of a garbage bag that has exploded on a backstreet in Olympia is weird, I suppose picking up a piece of the trash and walking off must have looked even stranger. But that’s what happened. (Oh, and for the ladies wondering out there, sorry, I didn’t save the shoes.)

With a little soap and water, I cleaned the lantern up. It’s nothing fancy. Made in China. No oil or wick. And a little rust. But otherwise I think it makes a good desk decoration.

 

Bread

First loaf of bread. I’ve made homemade dough for rolls and pizza crusts before, and essentially this is the same recipe I use for pizza. The bread was denser than I would have liked, but still delicious!
